PRESS RELEASE
Line Announces "Best-Ever" Alaska FAM Program Complete with ICTA Training.
March 15, 2002
Glacier Bay Cruiseline announced their 2002 FAM program for Alaska. "When doing a familiarization trip with Glacier Bay Cruiseline, our valued agency-partners should feel just like one of our honored guests-experiencing everything from pre-hotel stays to airport transfer service at the end of the cruise. We've included everything but the airfare, making this one of the best ways to discover profitable small-ship cruising," states Steve Gray, Vice President of Marketing and Sales for the Line. "How better to sell the product than through first-hand knowledge?"
New for this year is an optional ICTA-certified training course on selling to the Adventure Travel Niche called "Adventurology." This self-guided course is offered at no cost and will allow a CTC to finish the cruise with five additional Continuing Education Units. "We've worked closely with ICTA to develop a course that will educate a travel retailer on this very profitable segment of the travel industry
now our FAM participants will leave the cruise with first-hand knowledge of Alaska, our Cruise Line, and be better equipped to sell both
"
The Line introduced two distinct programs that allow agents to cruise Alaska at substantially reduced rates. The "Travel Industry" rate allows immediate confirmation, is open to all dates and features a 50% discount on the published tariff. The newly announced 2002 "FAM Dates" program allows agents to travel on select dates at a flat rate of $549 or $749 pp/do depending upon the vessel. FAM dates are also available at the remote Glacier Bay Lodge from $299 pp/do for complete 2-night packages. All FAM dates are confirmed 30 days prior to departure in order to allow time to find the best airfare. Both programs allow the agent to travel with a partner at this same great rate.
