PRESS RELEASE
Glacier Bay Cruiseline Partners with Voyager Holdings
June 6, 2002
Glacier Bay Cruiseline is solidifying a partnership with Voyager Holdings, a wholly owned subsidiary of the D'Arcinoff Group - an American owned maritime investment and holding company created to acquire and construct cruise vessels for U.S. domestic markets.
Voyager plans to purchase and provide two 200+ passenger U.S. flag cruises vessels to Glacier Bay Cruiseline to operate in Alaska and along the Pacific West Coast. Final agreement is contingent on the US Maritime Administration's approval of Voyager Holding's title XI federal ship construction loan guarantee application to build a new 2,000+ passenger cruise ship for year-round operation in Hawaii.
"This is a fantastic opportunity for Glacier Bay Cruiseline as it will substantially increase the size of our fleet and dramatically expand our product offerings and the geographic reach of our itineraries," states Greg Dronkert, President of the Line. "Best of all the proposed partnership with Voyager Holdings is consistent with our vision and will capitalize on our main strengths".
Glacier Bay Cruiseline is a small ship cruise and adventure tour company specializing in a variety of itineraries featuring Glacier Bay National Park and Preserve. The company owns and operates four U.S. built small cruise vessels. It is an official park concessionaire at Glacier Bay National Park and Preserve operating Glacier Bay Lodge.
Glacier Bay National Park is a major highlight and featured on every itinerary offered by Glacier Bay Cruiseline. In addition, guests can enjoy optional Tours to destinations such as Denali National Park or Gates of the Arctic National Park.
Goldbelt Incorporated, an Alaska Native Corporation, acquired Glacier Bay Cruiseline in 1996. As the only cruise line owned by an Alaska Native Corporation, Glacier Bay Cruiseline proudly incorporates native heritage and respect for the environment as key themes of its Alaska programs. "By design, our Cruises and Tours are intimate, interactive and enriching." Dronkert said.
