Line Announces $1000 Savings on August and September CruiseTours
June 04, 2002
Seattle-based Glacier Bay Cruiseline announced today that it is offering substantial savings of $1000 per person on any CruiseTour combination of 11-days or longer booked in conjunction with the MV Wilderness Discoverer. Departure dates for the cruise portion are July 14, August 14, 20, 26, September 1, 7, and 15. CruiseTour prices begin at just $1,615 per person when the discount is applied.
Their premier land tour, the 'Gates of the Arctic' ventures north of the Arctic Circle to the land of the midnight sun. Guests travel deep into the heart of the Brooks range and stay at a remote wilderness lodge to witness vast landscapes, jagged peaks and the beauty of the 8.5 million acre Gates of the Arctic National Park. This area is seen by less than 1% of all visitors to Alaska each year. "The whole idea for this promotion is to encourage clients to linger longer in this great state," says Megan McKinney-Rickey, Marketing Manager. "Internally, we have affectionately been saying 'slow down a bit and smell the tundra'
"
Other options for land tours range from a two-night stay at the Glacier Bay Lodge-the only overnight accommodations within the 3.3 million acre National Park-to Denali National Park rail packages featuring the McKinley Explorer domed railcars. When these popular land tours are combined with a select sailing aboard the 96-passenger MV Wilderness Discoverer, $1000 per person is subtracted from the total package price.
"We have been very pleased with the way cruise-only sales have rebounded in just the past two months," states Brian McKiernan, Director of Business Development, "However we haven't seen the lift with land tours as dramatically. We are hopeful that with this savings plan in place, we will entice guests to stay and experience some of the most unique land tours offered in this natural paradise. Alaska is big, and by just staying a few days longer, guests can experience a completely different adventure."
Since 1996, Glacier Bay Cruiseline has been owned by Goldbelt Incorporated, an Alaska Native Corporation.
